things are looking UGLY in the Gulf

Not sure if you all are watching the news about the storm brewing but it is looking BAD!!! It has been three years since Hurricane Katrina......almost to the DAY! and Gustav is already a category 4 hurricane.  Katrina was a category 5 and Gustov still has to cross the Gulf where there is warm water and the storm is due to gain strength before it hits landfall.

Please keep the Gulf coast residents in your prayers it is NOT looking to be a good thing over the next few days!

((I am not along the coast of TX nor is Jane so we will not see the really bad weather here....just lots of rain from the storm.  We'll get a lot of evacuees here instead))

These are just a few of my pictures from New Orleans on the Hurricane Katrina tour. Then I added in the one of me in front of the Evacuation sign which is all around New Orleans. We took it with our newspaper to be put in the paper back home.

Megs, all you have to do is paste in the HTML code from photobucket. I'm PRAYING that this storm is not as bad as Katrina was! It looks to have been downgraded to a Category 3 when it is due to hit land so maybe it won't be as bad! But......Hannah is right on Gustov's tail!!!! oy! i HATE hurricane season!

yea unfortunately they say they think the new levees still won't hold against another hurricane like katrina. And most people who went through katrina 3 years ago are alomst trusting the levees too much. LIke they don't think that something like that could happen again. But I hope everyone stays safe and that Gustav doesn't get much worse.

yes megs.you're so right! there is still so much devistation there. And, with Gustov just within the last hour being upgraded to a Category 4 hurricane.....things are NOT looking well for the Texas/Louisiana coastline! BIG BIG BIG prayers are needed for all of those in the storm's path!
My parents live near Beaumont, TX and they're seeing lots of evacuees already! very very sad and scary situation at hand!

Three years ago, we were suppose to go to New Orleans. Then a hurricane was expected to hit so we changed our plans and rescheduled and were suppose to go again when Katrina hit. So this summer we finally went to New Orleans and I am so happy that I got to go because it was such an eye opener. New Orleans is not even close to recovering to this day and I pray this storm doesn't hit them again because I don't know how they can take it. After seeing the homes that still haven't been repaired and the FEMA trailers that are still there...I was heartbroken. No one realizes how bad it was there until you go to see. They still need volunteers to come help and if this storm hits...I can only imagine what will happen to that town that is so full of history and culture.

I live along the Gulf Coast, but NOT where the storm is heading, Hope everyone who lives in this storms path to Stay Safe and Evacuate! I've been through Hurricanes, and If I was told to leave, I'd leave! That storm is not looking very good! Where I live as the storm moves to the North we here are getting some of the bands come through, So it's been a rainy day here. Again y'all stay SAFE!
